You are serving the Lord Christ.
In the humdrum of our work week—we forget the basic, vital key to our purpose at work. We serve Christ every day. If this is true, we should bring our best to work every single day. If you’re a believer in Jesus Christ, your Boss is the Lord. How should we work for our B.O.S.S.?
B. – Bring your best game every day.
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might. (Ecclesiastes 9:10)
Everyone around us wins when we bring our best effort to work every day. The beauty of a being a believer is that our steps are directed by God—there’s no coincidence in our lives—He is orchestrating everything in our lives.
O. – Order your steps in integrity and righteousness.
A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold. (Proverbs 22:1) We are to be people of outstanding character in our words and actions to those who work around us. This doesn’t mean we are perfect; rather, it means that we listen to the Spirit of God for direction.
S. – Set your line of sight directly to God.
I will lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. (Psalm 121:1-2)
When we set our line of sight directly to God, we can approach our work with renewed joy because “this is the day the Lord has made and we will rejoice in it.” (Psalms 118:24) Of course, there will be days when we will feel pressured, frustrated, or depressed; yet, we can look to God to invigorate our hearts with a plan and purpose.
S. – Seek the Lord for your reward.
The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will.
(Proverbs 21:1)
The world isn’t fair and many of us have been passed on promotions or raises. Some of us have been unfairly fired or laid off. It’s difficult to maneuver the waters of righteousness in a sin filled environment. Yet the Lord has a reward for those who are faithful. It’s up to us to walk in faith and trust Him to reward us not only in our future home with Him, but also right now in our present day and age.
Dear Lord, help me to be faithful in prayer and careful Bible study so I can be the salt and light at my job. In Jesus’ name, amen.
