Where are you Going

Do you want to go away as well

John 6:67

Have you ever felt like leaving the faith? Perhaps you’ve been persecuted and you’re weary of fighting the good fight of faith. Perhaps you’re tired of living a holy life and want to satisfy the temptations of your flesh. Or perhaps you’re like the disciples who walked away from Jesus—disillusioned because things haven’t happened the way you expected.

What kept the other disciples from deserting Jesus? We hear it in Peter’s answer, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” (John 6:68-69) As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we know what it is to go from darkness to light, to go from no hope to the eternal hope in our souls, and to go from the heaviness of sin to the freedom of forgiveness.

Where else can we find eternal life and the presence of God? No other religion can change us from the inside out to the point of becoming a new creature in Christ Jesus. Our Father in heaven gives us the Holy Spirit who fills us with wisdom and insight. We are given grace by God to overcome our weaknesses in the flesh to be used for His glory.

It’s in knowing Christ we find true peace and contentment in spite of persecution or daily frustrations. Riches, fame, relationships, nor respect can give us what we receive in the Lord. They pale in comparison because the world offers the emptiness of these things that can’t endure under the fire of judgement.

If we feel weary in the faith, we can find our strength in His word through the leading of His Spirit. We can pray that the Lord will restore our hope and sustain us through this life journey. We are not forgotten nor forsaken in Christ Jesus.

Prayer

Dear Lord, help us to stand firm in the faith and to follow You with all of our hearts. In Jesus’ name, amen.
