A profile on social media can be informative, but also it can be deceiving because it doesn’t always give the whole picture of who people really are. It’s easier to give an outward impression than it is to actually live up to it. Some people make themselves seem a more attractive and interesting than what their lives are currently. What should our Christian profile reveal to others based on Galatians 5:22-23?
Love – Do we only love those who are lovable? (Matthew 4:44-46)
Joy – Does joy remain in our hearts even when we struggle with life? (James 1:2)
Peace – Have we experienced the peace that passes all understanding? (Philippians 4:7)
Patience – Have we matured in patience when dealing with other people? (Ephesians 4:2)
Kindness – Have even strangers felt our mark of our kindness? (Hebrews 13:2)
Goodness – Do we press ourselves to do good rather than evil? (Romans 12:9, 21)
Faithfulness – Are we known for our committed faithfulness to complete what we began? (1 Corinthians 4:2)
Gentleness – When annoyed, are we know for our gentle or harsh response? (1 Peter 3:15)
Self-control – Do we model moderation in a culture of excessiveness? (1 Peter 4:7)
The fruit of the Spirit is our Christian profile if we put our trust in Christ. This fruit is demonstrated by our actions more than our words. Yet, our dependence to live in the Spirit comes from our obedience to God’s word.
Dear Lord, I want to live out my Christian profile. I pray that You will expose those areas of my life that don’t always line up with the fruit of the Spirit. In Jesus’ name, amen.
