Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you.
Many people spend lots of money and time to keep their bodies in shape. It’s good to take care of our bodies as good stewards of God as long as we don’t begin to worship it. A total temple makeover may be necessary, but it begins from the inside out. Try using the following T-E-M-P-L-E acronym as a first step.
T is to the time and energy to cultivate the inward woman. Our temples are falling apart every day. Renew your spirit in Christ every single day for eternal purposes.
E is to eat according to the leading of the Spirit and not the cravings of the flesh. We need to listen and obey the Spirit’s direction for what we should or shouldn’t eat. We will gain more control over the flesh…one day at a time.
M is to maintain your temple with diligence. Most of us don’t have to walk miles for water, search for wood for a fire, chase down chickens, walk the cows. If we did, we would get our necessary exercise. We can add more physical activity to our daily lives.
P is to pray for a balanced lifestyle plan that works for us. We need to take the next step of applying that knowledge to our everyday life by seeking God’s wisdom.
L is to let go of unrealistic expectations. God has called us to peace. Trust in His leading and you will be satisfied with yourself from the inside out.
E is to enjoy your temple as a gift from God. We should enjoy the life God has given us while we still have breath in our bodies. We need to experience the joy of it while mastering the desire to please ourselves more than pleasing God.
Dear Lord, help me to take care of my body in a way that brings You honor and glory. Give me the strength to make wise choices in my care of it. Amen.
