When I left for college, I made a very foolish decision. I put God on the shelf of my heart and told Him that I would be right back. I wanted to see what is was like in the world—I intended to go from point A to point B; however, I landed on Z with brokenness and pain.
It’s one thing to not know the Lord and find ourselves in a bad place. However, it’s a whole different story when we’ve known the presence and peace of God and still walk away from Him. Satan will do everything he can to deceive us into believing that we’ve gone too far and God will never want us back.
Yet, when the prodigal son come to his senses and returned home, his father was looking for him. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.” (Luke 15:20) Our Father God is looking for us when we’ve strayed from His presence. He’s not waiting with a big stick to pound on our heads; instead He’s waiting with strong arms to embrace us with His love, joy, and peace.
It’s time to come back to waking up with His sweet presence hovering over us. It’s time to come back to the joy and fellowship of our spiritual church family. It’s time to come back to living every day with our purpose and calling pounding in our hearts. It’s time to come back to sensing the expectation of our heavenly home.
It’s not too late to get it right. The Lord wants you now more than ever because He has a plan for your life that’s good and right. It’s doesn’t matter what you’ve done in the past—there’s forgiveness and reconciliation. The Lord will be with you no matter what.
Dear Lord, I’ve strayed far from the path that You were leading me. Forgive me. Accept me back. I want to live for You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
