Take Time for Spiritual Growth

Divider
Let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity.

Hebrews 6:1

I clearly remember when I first accepted Christ as my Savior at six years old. Yet, for all the years that I’ve followed Him, I have to constantly keep my spiritual growth a priority in my life. Many of us get caught up in the busyness of life and find ourselves spiritually lacking at times. We may want to be more discerning, but we can’t if we’re not doing the things that keep us spiritually sharp. How do we continual to grow spiritually?

First, we make our spiritual walk a part of our every day life. We wake up with God on our minds before our to-do list. This is an intentional effort to begin the day conversating with the Lord. It doesn’t have to be super intense or take a lot of time. We recognize God as being in control of our day and share with Him the issues on our hearts. By doing so, this sets up a consistent communion with Him all day and throughout the week.

Secondly, we meditate or reminiscence in His word, the Bible. It’s the foundation from which we stand when the chaos erupts in our lives. God’s word is true and solid to give us the strength to press our way through when we feel weak. In order to really know God and mature in the faith—we must know His word. Whether we are doing a Bible study or short daily readings, it’s a powerful motivator to lead us in the right direction.

Thirdly, we seek the communion and fellowship of other believers through service. Many people disregard the significance of church attendance because of their disappointment in leadership and hypocrites. However, Christ is the head of the church and we make up His body. If we say we love Christ and hate His body—we are in conflict and will remain in spiritual immaturity.

Prayer

Dear Lord, help me to pause in my day to conversate, meditate, and fellowship. I want my life to result in a sweet sacrifice to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

In His Service,
