Stop Looking and Start Living

He who finds a wife finds a good thing

Proverbs 18:22

When Ruth left her home country of Moab, she had no idea what to expect in Bethlehem. Rather than searching for a future husband, she supported her mother-in-law, Naomi, by searching for food. Because of her diligence in the fields, Boaz took notice of Ruth and inquired about her.

After learning about her faithfulness and hard work, Boaz made sure Ruth always had enough food as well as looked out for her protection. Ruth shared her experiences with Naomi, who replied, “Blessed be the man who took notice of you” (Ruth 2:19). Through a series of events, Ruth was eventually married to Boaz.

A woman who wants to be married will be looking to live in God’s purposes more than looking for a husband. Her focus is centered on living for and trusting in God to bring the right man. She will keep herself busy with purpose and direction from the Scriptures rather than constantly on the search for a husband. Her faithful engagement into the purposes of God will get the attention of the right person, just as it did for Ruth.

When a woman stops looking for a man and starts living her life with ambition energized by the Spirit of God, she becomes a priceless jewel in his life. He knows that he has found a good woman from God. Getting married isn’t the overall goal for a single woman who desires a husband. Rather, it’s living the life that God has called her to live every single day.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I’ve decided to stop looking for a husband and start living my life to the fullest right now. I trust You to send the best fit for me at the right time. Amen.
