Stay True

Let us draw near with a true heart

Hebrews 10:22

As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we know it’s wrong to tell a lie—but we must be careful to not live a lie. We live a lie when our lives don’t match up to what God’s word teaches us. Sometimes we find ourselves making excuses for ourselves and living a lie. If we don’t pay close attention, we may not even be aware of it.

If our hearts aren’t true to God, it will affect our assurance in the faith and our confidence in God will be weakened. We may find that our prayer life has become difficult. We may lose the desire to be involved in our churches. We could find ourselves pulled closer to the world and less towards God.

We can stay on the true path of life if we stay in God’s word every single day. Reading, meditating, memorizing, and praying the scriptures will always reveal truth in our lives. We can grow in the faith and live our lives in freedom if we know the truth of God’s word.

When we are true to God, we can be true to ourselves and those who are around us. We don’t have to be afraid of falling because we are standing firm in the faith and walking in truth. Truth will be evident in how we live and God will use us to help others stay true as well.

Jesus said that He is the way, the truth, and the life. (John 14:6) When we walk in truth, we are most like Jesus. Staying true to God, to our faith, and to our loved ones—gives us courage to step out in faith and believe the Lord to accomplish the great things He has placed on our hearts.

Prayer

Dear Lord, help me to stay true to Jesus and the teachings of the Bible. I need you to always lead me into all truth every day. Amen.
