Please show me your glory
God spoke to Moses face to face as a friend. As a result of this closeness, Moses asked the Lord to show him His glory. Moses couldn’t see God directly and still live, so he was hidden in the cleft of a rock, covered by God’s hand, and allowed to see His back. Some of God’s glory reflected on the face of Moses, and he needed to wear a veil around people so they wouldn’t gaze at him.
We also have the opportunity to shine the glory of God as we live in close relationship with Him. The spiritual hunger we have for God only increases as we draw near to Him. Our faces may not show the Moses glow; however, our spirits can shine the light of Christ. His glory is revealed as we live in the peace and presence of Jesus regardless of what is happening around us.
This glory isn’t always evident to us as much as it is to others. Our lives reflect the glory of God in the words we say and the things we do. When we are at home, school, or work, our family and friends recognize the Spirit of God within us because of the glory. If we are in the presence of unbelievers, the glory of God will either compel or convict them to make their peace with God.
Because of Jesus Christ, we can go from glory to glory in our relationship with God. Knowing the Lord as our Savior gives us the invitation to experience a closeness with the Creator of all things. The glory of God is a special gift to those who are sold out to Him in every way.
Dear Lord, I pray that You show me Your glory so that I can reflect Your presence everywhere You send me and to everyone You bring along my way. Amen.
