Show and Tell

Most of us remember “Show and Tell” in kindergarten. It was an opportunity for us to show something to our classmates and speaking the story about it. As believers in Jesus Christ, we are still doing show and tell in our faith. We show our faith in God by what we do and we share our faith by speaking about the goodness of God. What does this show and tell look like?

The faith of Rahab (James 2:25)
Rahab showed her faith in God by hiding the spies and helping them get away. In Joshua 2:9-13, she told of her faith in God to overtake the land even before the Israelites were gathered outside of the walls of Jericho.

The faith of the Canaanite mother (Matthew15:21-28, Mark 7:24-30)
The Canaanite mother showed her faith by crying out to Jesus to heal her daughter. She told of her faith in “Yes, Lord; yet even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.” Jesus responded to her statement of faith that her daughter was set free from the demon.

The faith of the Woman with the issue of blood (Mark 5:21-34, Luke 8:43-48)
This suffering woman showed her faith by reaching out to Jesus and touching the hem of His garment. She told of her faith when responding to Jesus’ question “Who touched me?”

Each of these women was broken—spiritually, emotionally, or physically. Just like them, we will have times of brokenness when we need to show and tell of our faith in God. Just like them, we will need to take the risk of faith and step out with courage. Just like them, God will use our steps of faith in our times of brokenness to show His glory

Prayer

Dear Lord, I pray for the strength to “show and tell” my faith in You every day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
