Keep yourself pure.
There’s something about purity that makes it priceless, whether it’s jewelry, sound, or nature. We are drawn towards the majesty and beauty of purity because of God. We are willing to pay extra for the purity if we can afford it.
However, many of us settle for less than impure, which is the course of the culture we live in. We are surrounded by impurity of thoughts, language, dress, and entertainment. Being so engrossed in this, sometimes we forget what purity looks like. It’s in those times we must turn to God and be awed by His holiness and purity.
When we read the word of God, we immediately recognize our impurities. We can respond with confession and repentance, or we can turn away and embrace the ways of impurity. As believers in Jesus Christ, we are called to be pure as God is pure—holy as God is holy. This isn’t something we can just decide to do. We need the glory of God to shine on our hearts and minds.
Just as Moses reflected God’s glory in His presence, we too can reflect God’s glory in His presence when we take the time to pray, study the Bible, and fellowship with other believers. Our lives will reflect God’s purity without legalisms of what to eat, what to wear, or how to talk. Purity of God’s presence will be evident even when we are unaware of it because it simply becomes a way of life.
If we’ve walked in the ways of impurity by our choices, it’s not too late to get cleaned up. We pray for God’s forgiveness, deny the carnal desires, and seek God’s presence every day. By humbling ourselves, we will be exalted by God and express His purity in our daily walk.
Dear Lord, forgive me for my impure ways of thinking, talking, and living. I want to live a pure, clean life in Christ. I pray for Your help to do so every day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
