Perfect Peace

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

Isaiah 26:3

The world has been longing for peace since the beginning of time. Peace is difficult for the world to attain, so it offers a false sense of peace to keep people from losing hope. Politicians promise more laws if people vote for them, bosses promise promotions and raises if workers will work harder, and lawyers promise peaceful solutions if they get paid a certain amount of money. Yet they can’t fully deliver perfect peace even if their promises are sincere.

However, God promises perfect peace for those who put their trust in Him. His peace is pure without strings attached like those of the world. He brings peace in the hearts and minds of His people even when they are surrounded by a chaotic environment. The peace He gives allows them to still go about their daily lives as though nothing was wrong.

This perfect peace isn’t the absence of pain or troubles but actually living in the midst of it. Those who experience this peace have disciplined their minds on the word of God. They meditate on the promises of God with the expectation that He will do what He said. Because of this affirmed hope in their hearts, they can know this perfect peace.

In addition to knowing God’s word, they maintain constant communication with Him in prayer. Not just asking Him to answer their prayers but also having times of praise, adoration, and thankfulness for the things He has done in their lives. Every child of God has this peace available to them. It’s a gift because there is no peace for the wicked. By God’s grace in saving us, we can know and live in this perfect peace every day.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I need Your peace in this world. I pray that Your Word will infiltrate my heart in such a way that I will live in perfect peace. Amen.
