Many times I would ask God why I was getting divorced when I did everything I knew to do to make my marriage work. I wasn’t a perfect wife—but I was faithful to do what was necessary. Even though things didn’t turn out the way I wanted, I realized that there was value in being faithful to God even when the bottom falls out.
Faithfulness whether in marriage, parenting, work, or church service is valuable in the sight of God. If we have been faithful, it’s not because we are so good and worthy. Rather, it’s because God enables us to do what is necessary.
Our role in faithfulness is to choosing to do what is right even if everything around us pulls a different direction. Faithfulness is marked by consistent obedience to God’s word even when our flesh desires to fulfill itself. Faithfulness is the genuine pursuit of wanting God’s favor and blessing over our lives.
If we practice a life of faithfulness, we will be strengthened by the Spirit of God when trouble comes our way. Faithfulness doesn’t insulate us from pain nor disappointment. However, it does provide the anchor for our souls when we could drift into disobedience and unrighteousness. When we are faithful during the storms of life, God not only renews our strength—but He gives us new courage and vigor to move forward.
When the faithful ones of God gather together, there is recognition and worship of our Lord Savior. As a united group of believers, we know that He is the One worthy of our praise and adoration. Our faithfulness comes from His power and grace over our lives. Oh, come let us adore Him!
Dear Lord, I want to be more faithful in my walk with You. Grant me the grace to be consistent in my faithfulness in Your calling over my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
