It’s Not That Complicated

Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life

1 John 5:12

Have you ever heard someone explain a situation beginning with “it’s complicated”? Typically, that means we can only understand their situation by hearing all the ins and outs of it. People who generally use this expression don’t want you to really understand the situation because you might be able to make it less complicated very easily.

Many religions have complicated ways for people to attain salvation. They may have to work for it by following rigorous, strict lifestyles, or they must constantly free their minds of any convictions about right or wrong. The truth is that anything that steps away from the grace of God through Christ Jesus will eventually hit a “complicated” moment.

Jesus made it very clear in John 14:6 that no one comes to the Father except through the Son. There are no exceptions, no matter how good or fair you are. To reject Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for our sins is to complicate our eternal future.

Knowing Jesus Christ isn’t complicated. It’s a matter of confessing that you are a sinner and believing that He came as a sacrifice for your sins. The inner peace that floods your soul is the assurance that you are free from your sins.

Let’s not complicate the message of Christ. Those who are drawn by the Spirit will respond with brokenness and a readiness to serve God through the church. Every true believer in Jesus Christ will experience that transformation from being in darkness to knowing the light. They will also have the assurance of the Holy Spirit about knowing God more intimately. The inner peace of God isn’t complicated for those who long for life.
