It Is Finished

He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion.

Philippians 1:6

“It is finished.” These were the words of Jesus before He took his last breath on the cross. He was born of a virgin, raised up by earthly parents, ministered to the people. And after He accomplished every single prophecy, He died and rose again. The Lord set an example for all believers: We must continue the work until we are finished.

Because we are gifted by the Holy Spirit for ministry, we need to actively seek out how to develop and grow in our gifts until our last day on Earth. It’s not over until it’s over. We will face many trials in this lifetime, yet we must keep our eyes on the prize. Every one of us will stand before Jesus and give an account for how we used the gifts He gave us.

God’s part is the gifting, and our part is the receiving. Once we receive God’s gift, we need to get busy and start building His kingdom. Our witnessing and serving in the body is just the beginning, and there is a completion we are working towards. None of us are done until we take our last breath.

Our Father in heaven doesn’t start the good work in us without finishing it. We can take hope in that He will enable us to accomplish His will as we trust in Him and not in ourselves. We can move forward in faith even though we don’t always see how things are going to work out. We can refuse to carry the weight of worldly concerns and place every burden on Jesus Christ.

We are more than conquerors in Jesus, and we were saved to complete a purpose in Him. Great days are ahead in this lifetime and greater days in eternal life after we are finished.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I’ve started and stopped many times in this Christian journey. Give me the courage to move forward in faith to complete the calling You have on my life. Amen.
