I am my beloved’s, and his desire is for me.
Married women don’t always have the husband who makes the most money or the husband who can get on the cover of a muscle magazine. He may never win a gold medal in the Olympics or graduate top in his college class. However, to be married to a man who loves her as Christ loved the church will do far more for their relationship than anything this world offers.
Balanced Christian women aren’t expecting their husbands to be perfect. What they are expecting is for their husbands to mature in their relationship to be the man God called them to be. They want their husbands to do whatever it takes to keep the marriage alive, healthy, and enduring.
When a wife is unconditionally loved by her husband, she is free to be everything that God has called her to be without fear. She can try new things, and whether it’s a success or failure, she knows that her husband has her back. Her spiritual, emotional, and physical gifts are more likely to be evident because she’s empowered by his confidence and support.
The wife’s beloved keeps his desire only for her and no one else. This is a confidence builder in their relationship, as she also only prefers him above all others. No talk of separation, divorce, or adultery infiltrates this God-driven marriage because of the protective cover of trust and hope.
In response to her beloved’s unconditional love, the wife willingly submits to her husband as to Christ. It’s not that their marriage doesn’t have problems, yet it continues to grow and thrive as a result of unconditional love and submission.
Dear Lord, help me to recognize when my husband is expressing unconditional love for me. Help me to love and respect him in a way that brings honor to Your name. Amen.
