Grace for Our Weaknesses

Divider

For my power is made perfect in weakness.

2 Corinthians 12:9

Have you asked God to take away your weakness in the flesh but it seems like nothing ever changes? We don’t have to be discouraged because Paul had the same problem. He asked God three times to take away his thorn in the flesh, but Jesus didn’t take it away. Instead, Jesus answered him, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Whatever our struggle or problem, God’s grace is enough for us. It’s a matter of surrendering our self-dependence and becoming completely God-dependent. Grace gives us the ability to overcome and reflect God’s glory in spite of our imperfections. This isn’t a get-away-with-sin card. Not at all, because we know in Romans 6:1-2 that we aren’t to sin to get more grace.

When we gave our lives to Christ, the power of sin was broken. We came to the end of ourselves and laid down our independence at the foot of the cross. Our repentance allows us to be free in God’s grace (Romans 6:14).

God gives His grace to work out His purposes in spite of our weaknesses. There’s more for us to do in this life, if we would receive God’s grace to overcome the desires of the flesh.

We were born for more than just barely living saved. There’s a purpose, a plan, and a destiny for us when we tap into God’s grace for strength in the midst of our troubles. When we are weak or burdened by temptations, we can call out, “God, grant me the grace I need to overcome!”

Prayer

Dear Lord, Your grace is enough for me. I pray for Your power to manifest itself in my life to reveal Your grace in the midst of my weaknesses. Amen.
