For the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.

Isaiah 30:18

Every day there is a story posted about children being abused around the world, especially those young people who’ve been sexually abused by sick and corrupt deviants. Or consider the talented and hardworking people who were minding their own business when a murderer took them out. Although it’s important we know about the damage and prevalence of sex trafficking of women and children around the world, it’s hard on the heart and mind. This constant influx of violence on innocent people can harden our hearts to where we can’t take in the horror of their experience.

Our response to these acts of injustice on the innocent is to cry out to the God of justice. We desire Him to punish those who practice wickedness without repercussions. The Lord isn’t a spectator of the evils of this world, for He says that “vengeance is mine; I will repay” (Hebrews 10:30). Not one unrepentant act of evil will be swept aside. Those who practice such evils on humanity will serve an eternity of pain and suffering for what they’ve done.

It’s not wrong for us to ask for God’s justice. In Revelation 6:10, martyred believers in heaven asked Him the question, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” They were comforted by the Lord and encouraged to be patient.

In these last days, we know that “evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived” (2 Timothy 3:13). Yet we have hope in Christ that He will one day set everything in order. There will be a time of no sorrow, pain, or tears for those who followed after Him. And yet there remains an eternal destructive fire for those who refused to repent of their wickedness.

Dear Lord, help me to persevere in prayer for those who suffer at the hands of the wicked. I pray for justice for the innocent. In Jesus’ name, amen.

In His Service,
