How God gets things Done

Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts.

Zechariah 4:6

When things get difficult for us, we try to figure it out any we can. However, we are limited in what we can do. Many times the struggles we have don’t match up with our strengths. We can be strong in finances, but there isn’t enough money to repair a broken relationship. We may be physically healthy, yet unable to deal with our mental or emotional struggles. This is when God gets things done for us—not by might nor by power, but by His Spirit.

What does this mean for us? Are we supposed to just sit back and hope it all works out? Actually no…instead we are to actively pursue God for the wisdom, guidance, and strength to follow His will for our lives. Even though God blessed us with gifts and talents to use for His glory, He wants us to trust in His Spirit more than we rely on ourselves.

God gets things done by His Spirit for our unsaved loved ones. By His Spirit, He convicts their hearts and brings about the right circumstances to change their minds. We can choose to intercede for them and be ready to help them when they are converted.

God gets things done by His Spirit when our circumstances drastically change due to an unexpected illness or job loss. By His Spirit, He leads us in the right direction of peace and patience so that regardless of the outcome—He is glorified as God.

God gets things done by His Spirit when our hearts fail for fear and anxiousness. By His Spirit, He brings the truth of His word to life and we find ourselves encouraged to move forward in faith.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I know that You will get things done in Your perfect timing and way. Sustain in me a heart that trusts more in You than what I see with my eyes. In Jesus’ name, amen.
