Give Thanks!

Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!

1 Chronicles 16:34

I’m guilty…of not always remembering to give thanks to God. So many times I’ve asked Him for wisdom, strength, and grace. He’s answered me over and over again—and I’ve become distracted and forgot to give thanks for all of His goodness to me. If we are ever having a bad day, we can always come out of our slump by giving thanks:

We give thanks for God loving us so much that He gave His Son so that we may have eternal life. (John 3:15)

We give thanks for Jesus who willingly took on the sins of every single person born on earth. (John 1:29)

We give thanks for the Holy Spirit who indwells within each one of us and leads us into all truth. (John 16:13)

We give thanks for the gift of salvation freely given to us even though we didn’t earn or deserve it. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

We give thanks for the privilege of prayer which allows intimate communion to talk and hear from God. (Luke 18:1-8)

We give thanks for the Bible which is the word of God giving us insight, direction, clarity, and peace on how to live and know Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 4:12)

We give thanks for Christian fellowship and community to grow in our faith through the teaching, leading, and discipling of our faith to serve and be served by others. (Hebrews 10:25)

We give thanks for God keeping every single one of His promises that encourage and build our faith and trust in Him. (2 Corinthians 1:20)

We give thanks for hope that is seared into our hearts and minds so that we can believe in God even in the darkest moments of our lives. (Romans 5:2-5)

We give thanks for the gift of eternal life because there’s a better place for us where there’s no death, sin, nor sickness ever again. (John 14:1-4)

We give thanks for God’s unconditional agape love for each one of us. (1 John 4:7-10)

We give thanks for peace that we can have in the midst of chaos. (Philippians 4:6-8)

We give thanks for the gift of life as God has designed us after His own image. (Job 33:4)

We give thanks for having a purpose to be alive for God’s good pleasure and will. (Philippians 2:12-13)

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank You for everything You have given me. I don’t deserve it, but out of Your grace and mercy I receive it fully. In Jesus’ name, amen.
