Don’t Give up Now!

What have you done to us in bringing us out of Egypt?

Exodus 14:11

The Israelites saw the hand of God in their favor against the Egyptians. There was a clear distinction between the Egyptians and the Israelites. Whether it was frogs, locusts, flies, or darkness, etc. against the Egyptians—none of these plagues happened to the Israelites. God led them out of Egypt with great wealth as well as the cloud by day and the fire by night. However, once they were between the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s army, they immediately panicked and questioned God.

What happens to us when we are caught between a rock and a hard place? Do we immediately question God’s hand over our lives? Or do we stand firm in the faith knowing that our God is able to do above and beyond what we ask of Him?

Life is hard. We live in a world of sin that has forgotten that God is still on the throne. Our culture is driven towards selfish ambitions. However, as believers we know that God has not forgotten us. We make ourselves remember when God came through for us in the past. We remember that we aren’t forgotten at all. We hold on to the truths of His word and not give up when times get hard. We are called by God to trust in Him even when we feel all is lost.

The Lord has a plan for our lives and He doesn’t change our calling because of hardships. In fact, He uses the hardships to draw us closer to Him so that we don’t give up hope. Unlike the Israelites, we also have the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit who leads, encourages, and restores our hearts when we are tempted to give up. We must press forward in the faith knowing that God is still in control and He wants us to trust in Him with all of our hearts.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I won’t give up on You. Restore my courage and strength to trust You in these difficult times. In Jesus’ name, amen.
