So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

John 8:36

Slavery is outlawed in most places of the world—yet it still exists around the world. Multitudes of people are enslaved by their sin. It doesn’t matter what they want to do, what they know they should do, or what others tell them to do, their sin beckons them on a daily basis. This yoke of slavery exists because of sin entering into the world with Adam and Eve.

Many of us know what it is to be enslaved by our sins. We know what it’s like to want to do right, but to do wrong instead. Our sins have destroyed relationships, undermined our destiny, and burnt bridges of opportunity. Yet, once we are set free by God—we are never the same. Anyone can be immediately set free when they put their trust in Jesus. Because Jesus lives, we are set free through:

Hearing and applying truth.
“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)

Living a life of faith.
“Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.” (1Peter 2:16)

Experiencing God’s grace.
“But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many.” (Romans 5:15)

Walking in the Spirit.
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” (2 Corinthians 3:17)

The psalmist in Psalm 118:5 wrote “out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.” Because He lives, we are free from the slavery of living sinful lives. We are free to accomplish great things in His name. We are free to be everything God created us to be. Let’s walk in the freedom of Christ today as we celebrate Easter week!

Prayer

Dear Lord, I desire to walk in freedom. Lead me in the right paths that lead to the freedom of fulfilling my purpose and destiny on this earth. In Jesus’ name, amen.

In His Service,
