Have you ever been there? You follow everything you know that God wants you to do—and the end result is worse than if you had never begun the journey. However what we call a delay, God uses as a part of His plan to get us where we need to be. By being tasked more heavily, the people were going to be more ready to leave Egypt especially after 400 years of oppression. By digging his heels against God, the ushering of the great plagues became a powerful expression of God’s power and glory. By being tested and doubted by the people, Moses was developing thick skin in preparation of leading a discontented and stubborn people to the Promised Land.

If we find our spiritual calling and journey becoming more difficult, it doesn’t necessarily mean that we missed something. It could mean that God has testing, endurance, perseverance, and longsuffering to get us where He wants us to be for His purpose and calling.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I need your intervention to give me discernment so that I don’t miss it. Help me to persevere when my calling gets difficult and I don’t understand everything that is going on. In Jesus’ name, amen.
