What To Do When You Feel Insecure

When I was transitioning from being a stay-at-home mom to a working single mom, I was faced with many challenges outside my comfort areas. I had to learn a lot of things in a short period of time, and I was constantly besieged by my insecurities. I didn’t feel smart or strong enough to carry the responsibilities of a large family on my own. However, I did know God; and knowing Him got me through everything.

Since that time I’ve accomplished more than I ever dreamed possible—spiritually, emotionally, mentally, occupationally. I’ve been working a wonderful full-time job while also working as a part-time writer and speaker. I’ve watched my five children mature into respectable and responsible young adults. I continue to be an adult learner in my field of study as well as broadening myself to experience new things. I continue to R.E.A.C.H. for God when I feel insecure.

R – Remember that it’s not about me but God’s plans.

E – Expect that there will be challenges, but God is with me and will help me.

A – Accept my calling in life that infiltrates every single job I do.

C – Challenge myself to always strive to be better in spirit, mind, and body.

H – Hear and obey God’s leading through His word and Holy Spirit.

Following R.E.A.C.H. doesn’t mean life is always easier for me. Many times I feel completely overwhelmed with it. However, even in the midst of not knowing what or how I’m going to accomplish the next thing, I feel His presence in my midst and my heart is filled with inexpressible joy and peace. Afterwards, insecurity can’t reside in my heart any longer.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I look to You for all of my security and hope. You are my strength and peace to overcome any limitations so that Your will be done in my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
