Redeem the Time

Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Ephesians 5:16

Have you ever experienced the regret of wasted time? The problem is that we can’t get wasted time back. Yet God has called us to redeem the time, not waste it. How do we R-E-D-E-E-M the time?

R – Remember that tomorrow isn’t promised to us (James 4:13-15).
Knowing that we may only have today, we need to take advantage of the opportunities that God gives us. One day we will give an account for how we lived our lives with the gifts that God gave us.

E – Expect that God may have a plan different from ours (Proverbs 16:9).
We can start every day with a prayer of surrender to God’s will. This will help us navigate the changes we didn’t expect in our day.

D – Determine to make the most of the day given to us (Psalm 84:5).
Every day is a chance for us to live a productive and thankful life to God. We can resolve in our minds to accomplish His will regardless of the obstacles.

E – Engage in opportunities to be a blessing to others (Galatians 6:10).
God gives us multiple opportunities to be a blessing in our words and actions to our family, friends, co-workers, and strangers. We may even bless angels without knowing it (Hebrews 13:2).

E – Enjoy the beautiful moments of our lives with those we love (Ecclesiastes 5:18).
When God calls us home to spend eternity with Him, our loved ones will feel the loss most intensely. We are blessed if we make it a priority to show them love while we have the chance.

M – Make an effort to live in peace with others (2 Corinthians 13:11).
In this world of sin, there’s always strife in some place in the world. As much as it is up to us, we can strive to live in peace with those God has placed in our vicinity.

Prayer

Dear Lord, forgive me for the times I’ve wasted my time instead of redeeming it. Give me wisdom to number my days. Amen.
