Miles Between Miracles

Divider

The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went on his way.

John 4:50

Does it ever feel like your miracle will never happen? As much as you want to give up and accept whatever will happen, the Spirit of God continues to press upon your heart to keep believing. The nature of miracles is that on the surface they are completely impossible. Our human minds can’t fathom how miracles can happen in our situations.

However, as we continue to press past our doubts and dig deeper into what we know of our Lord, we will know the miracles of God. Someone once said that it was “miles between miracles” to describe the time between believing God and seeing the miracle come to fruition. In these “miles” we are searching for God’s intervention, fighting off doubt, and praying constantly for what we believe is His will.

When Jesus walked the earth, He was constantly besieged by people looking for their miracles. In Cana one official asked Jesus to come heal his son, but Jesus instead told him to go home and that his son was healed (John 4:46-54). In the area of Tyre and Sidon, a Canaanite woman sought after Jesus to heal her daughter of a demon. After a discussion with Him, He told her to go home because her daughter was free (Mark 7:24-30).

In both situations the father and mother individually believed in Jesus and had to make the journey home to see their miracle. We too have to come to the place of trusting in God for our miracles as we make our way through this life. There will be times of testing our faith, yet we must stand strong in the miles between our miracles.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I put my trust in You to do what is impossible in human terms. I serve an almighty God who is able to do beyond what I ask or expect. My faith is secure in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
