Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us
Years ago, a friend shared with me how her grandfather secretly told her that she was his favorite. At his funeral, all of the grandchildren shared how he told each of them the same thing. I imagined how growing up around their grandfather gave them great confidence in his love and adoration of them individually.
As children of the Lord, we are all loved as His favorites. He sent His only and beloved Son to die for us. Even though we had to respond to the Lord in repentance, Christ died for us while we were yet sinners. We couldn’t have even come to the Lord if He didn’t first draw us to Himself. If that weren’t enough, He placed His favor upon us to bless and keep us forever.
As God’s favorites, we can have confidence in His love for us. We aren’t abandoned and left to figure things out for ourselves. His love encompasses our hearts and gives us courage to push past our natural limitations toward achieving great goals. When we accept God’s favor over our lives, we trust Him even though we don’t understand because we know that He is looking out for us.
The favor of the Lord is available to everyone who puts their trust in Him. Our lives give evidence of His favor, just as it did for Joseph in Egypt, David in Philistine, and Daniel in Babylon. None of these nations gave glory to God, yet these men were successful because of the favor of God.
Because of God’s favor, we will accomplish the dreams He places on our hearts. We will also complete the work that He has for us to do in spite of our weaknesses. As God’s favorites, our potential is limitless in Him.
Dear Lord, thank You for Your favor on my life. I pray that You will increase my faith to trust in Your favor to complete the calling on my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
